Screen Print Story

As a senior project in the University of Texas Multimedia Journalism degree program, we had to produce a story told using flash. I chose to look at screen printing from a historical perspective and in the different mediums of apparel and art. I was working on this project in 2006 when flash was still an extremely glitchy program and I ended up having to elimate some of the pieces I originally intended to include in the project after the Macromedia tech support simply shrugged their shoulders and couldn't explain some of the anomalies happening in the animation.

For this project, I shot photos and took audio with two groups of artists working on different projects on vastly different scales. Click here for a larger view and listen to the audio as you flip through the photo gallery and take a visual tour through the history of screen printing from the turn of the century to present times. I've also included a gallery of some of the images that had to be omitted from the original project.
