48 Hour Octopus Project Music Video

The Alamo Drafthouse is an Austin institution and goes beyond being simply a movie theater by offering interactive shows, world-renowned festivals and filmmaking contests.

Leading up to SXSW 2008, the Alamo Drafthouse held a 48 hour filmmaking contest where teams had a short turnaround to produce a music video based on a surprise song they were assigned. My team, made up of four members, was lucky enough to get a song from an artist that was already one of our favorites.

Using puppets based on characters featured in The Octopus Project's album art, we made a simple storyline and filmed and edited the piece all in a 48 hour period. I was able to see our production shown on the big screen at the Alamo Drafthouse and later at the Red Bull Moon Tower party during SXSW.

I've also included a small gallery of images I took as we worked on the project into the wee hours of the morning.
